ColorCube provides an inexpensive, fast and simple way for dental laboratories to colour titanium components for prosthetics. The colour, obtained by anodization, is extremely thin will not chip or peel like paint and does not effectively change the geometry of the part. The color is biocompatible and suitable for use with implantable devices.

How it works
The color is obtained by anodization, a process in which the thickness of a naturally occurring oxide layer is increased, causing a change in the way the light reflects from the surface.
The perceived color of a component will vary with the thickness of the oxide layer, and a large range of colors can be obtained.
The oxide layer is extremely thin and is fully integrated with the underlying titanium surface.
The color will not chip or peel like paint and it is so thin that it does not effectively change the geometry of the part. The oxide layer is bio-compatible and suitable for use with implants.
Design and use
The ColorCube is designed and developed in Denmark, with ease of use, simplicity and functionality in mind, with the purpose of making the color anodiszation process and technology available for everyone.
The minimal footprint, simple and safe user interface, allows any clinic or lab to create color on any type of prosthetic component made of alloyed titanium, thus making it possible to create gold or pink colors for aesthetic purposes and a further range of colors for coding or size indication, all in a simple and safe process in a plug and play unit in a 30 second process.
Bringing the coloring process in house will not only save money, but also ensure that the coloring can be added to the product once it is completely finished, preserving full color on the component. In addition, the ColorCube makes it possible to introduce dual colors, by a simple masking with eg. Wax.
Consumables and economic aspects
Titanium fixtures, etch and anodizing liquid are used for the coloring process. Comparing with the price and process time of doing out-of-house coloring, ColorCube is fast and inexpensive. Typically, it will have paid for itself in few months and will dramatically reduce overall production time.

The body is made from solid aluminium, that has been given a surface treatment to resist scratches and dents. It is built to be durable and survive many years of use in a harsh environment.
